Board Goals 2026-2028

Goal 1: Ensure Fiscal Responsibility and Sustainable Resource Planning

Provide policy direction, oversight, and advocacy to ensure fiscal stability and long-range physical resource planning, including addressing structural funding challenges. 

Objectives

  • Review and discuss regular fiscal reports, including long-term projections and analysis of unfunded FTES, to inform Board decision-making.
  • Review, provide input on, and monitor progress of the Facilities Master Plan and capital outlay priorities to ensure alignment with student and program needs.
  • Advocate for sustainable funding and resource allocation strategies aligned with Board priorities.

Goal 2: Strengthen Board Advocacy to Advance District and System Priorities

Provide leadership and advocacy to advance District priorities through a clear legislative platform and active engagement at the local, state, and federal levels.

Objectives

  • Develop and adopt a Board legislative advocacy platform that articulates District priorities.
  • Participate in coordinated advocacy efforts that support community college funding and policy priorities.
  • Engage in ongoing education and review of legislative updates to inform and align advocacy efforts.

Goal 3: Advance Student Access, Support, and Success

Provide policy direction and oversight to support equitable student access, support, and success through data-informed decision-making and alignment with institutional priorities.

Objectives

  • Review student success and equity data, including disaggregated outcomes, to assess progress and inform Board priorities.
  • Review and monitor progress on key institutional plans to ensure alignment with student access and success goals.
  • Participate in student engagement opportunities and Board professional development to strengthen understanding of student needs and experiences.

Goal 4: Develop an Effective Board–CEO Partnership During Leadership Transition

Provide governance oversight to establish and sustain a strong Board–CEO partnership that ensures effective communication, clear expectations, and institutional stability.

Objectives

  • Establish and communicate Board–CEO roles, responsibilities, communication norms, and governance boundaries.
  • Maintain regular Board–CEO dialogue to support alignment on institutional priorities.
  • Review and implement a clear, consistent CEO evaluation process aligned with Board policy.
